SOLARWIN

Receiving a grant by the EU Fast Track to Innovation program (FTI), SolarWin is a project aiming to scale-up and validate next-generation transparent Photovoltaic (PV) windows for commercial use and mass-production. Our R&D team, together with partners Sunplugged, Acciona, and IREC, is working on achieving this goal by 2021.

The first prototype

We are proud to show this prototype, a collaboration between Sunplugged, NSG, AL13 and Reynaers, which was recently created in our LivingLab testing facility in Delft.

Innovative tool for in-line process monitoring

IREC in cooperation with SUNPLUGGED has developed an innovative tool for in-line process monitoring compatible with high throughput roll-to-roll production of the flexible CIGS-based PV modules.

Product details

The concept is based on and designed as a luminescent solar concentrator (LSC). It incorporates an innovative luminescent coating that absorbs surplus light in the visible region and re-emits it in the near-infrared (NIR) region. The re-emitted light travels through the window towards the CIGS customized PV modules, which collect re-emitted light and generate green energy. A key element in this window concept is the use of a luminescent layer absorbing in the visible region and emitting in the NIR region.

Subsidy

From October 1st, 2019 to September 30th, 2021, the SolarWin project will receive a 3-million euros contribution for research activities. The coordination is done byIREC. Project: H2020-EIC-FTI-2018-2020-870004
